While barely tolerating a boring history class in 1981, a big white spot at the bottom of a wall map of the entire world caught my eye. That seed sprouted in 2001 when a random visit to a bookstore changed everything and Antarctic Mike was born.

Since then, I’ve read more than 100 books on the subject of polar history, followed Shackleton to Antarctica to run both a marathon and an ultra marathon on a ice shelf located 600 miles from the South Pole. In the process, I learned how to see difficulty differently and I learned how to LET GO when the most difficult event of my life showed up in 2023.
